MasterWork Wiki: Ng/D Equipment upgrade

Basics

Lu4 has significantly expanded the equipment upgrade system at NPC merchants.

Players can now upgrade NG and D-grade Weapons, Armor, and Jewelry. To upgrade, you need to turn in the old equipment, pay a small amount of Adena, and receive an upgraded item in return. The upgrade cost depends on the price difference between the equipment.

NG items are upgraded with no markup — this means that buying a Top NG sword or obtaining it through step-by-step upgrades of any NG sword will cost the same.
D-grade items are upgraded with a small markup, so upgrading them step-by-step will cost slightly more than directly buying the final item.

The best NG weapon can also be exchanged for a low D weapon using a special coupon, which is given upon receiving the 1st Profession. Armor and Jewelry can only be upgraded within their own grade.

All prices are listed without the castle owner’s tax!

The price may be up to 15% higher, depending on the tax rate. The tax does not apply to Ng gear upgrade.

To save money, trade in tax-free towns, if any are available.
